About the Society

Lytham St. Annes Photographic Society was formed in 1948 and is one of the largest and most active camera clubs in the North West, with a current membership of 120 covering a broad age spectrum.

The syllabus of various subjects provides for weekly meetings from September to May with occasional group sessions of outdoor photography in June and July followed by the Society’s annual exhibition in August.

The principal aim of the Society is for members to help one another with all aspects of the hobby, catering for novices through to the very experienced and qualified. Help is given towards attaining photographic distinctions.

Whilst the Society is very much into digital technology it has not abandoned the traditional methods of photography. It has equipment for free home use by members.

The annual subscription for 2007/2008 (September - August) is £21 with approximately pro-rata rates for mid-syllabus new enrolments.

The weekly meetings are held at Heyhouses Junior School, Clarendon Road North, St. Annes (off St. Annes Road East) on Thursday evenings at 7.30 p.m. and usually last between two and two-and-a-half hours.

If you are interested in joining the Society (which enjoys a reputation of being very sociable) you will be made very welcome. You are invited to come along for a few weeks, to decide whether you like what you find, before committing yourself to membership.

You can, if you wish, enrol at the Society’s annual exhibition at a discounted subscription.

Alternatively, you are invited to ‘phone Doug. Couzens on 01253 737327 for any further information.
